A Note From The Pastor

Category: Parish News,

This Sunday is Veterans Day.  It’s a day when we honor our Military Veterans who served in the United States Armed Forces. A special ‘Thank You’ to all of our Veterans who have contributed to the freedoms we enjoy, especially freedom of conscience and religious freedom.  Veterans Day is observed on this Monday, November 12th, this year, and we will have Mass at the usual time of 8AM.

At all of the Masses next weekend, we will have our Annual Second Collection for the Retirement Fund for Religious.  Elderly Catholic Sisters, Brothers, and Religious Order Priests need your help.  Many served for years in Catholic Schools, Hospitals, and Parishes — often for little or no pay.  Now there is a shortage in retirement savings.  Your gift to the Retirement Fund for Religious provides funding for medications, nursing care, and more.  It also helps ensure younger members can continue the good works of their elders.  Please give to those who have given a lifetime.

Another Save the Date:  Please save the date for celebrating the upcoming Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe.  Observance begins with a nine-day Rosary Novena beginning on Monday, December 3rd, and culminating with a Mass and celebration on Wednesday, December 12th. Please see future bulletins for more details regarding the Novena and events.

Please join me in continuing to pray that God may bring healing to our Jewish brothers and sisters, and all those impacted by the senseless act of violence at the Tree of Life Synagogue.  Let us also pray for a conversion of heart for those who harbor anger and hatred in their hearts.

Reminder:  There will be a First Reconciliation Parent Meeting this Sunday, November 11th, from 10:30AM until 11:30AM in the Parish Center.

We will have a Holy Hour and Benediction for the Solemnity of Christ The King. We will honor the Lord Jesus as King of the Universe on Sunday, November 25th, at 7PM in the Church. Join us for Vespers, Holy Hour, Rosary, and Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament. Bring the whole family; all are Welcome!

I would like to remind you (and myself) that in the past year material and monetary donations to the OLH Food Pantry have gone down.  Please see the bulletin for details.  Thanks for your ongoing generosity.

As we continue on in this month of November, let us continue to pray for the souls in purgatory who need our assistance.  Let us also remember our Jewish brothers and sisters who continue to be affected by the violence.

God Bless,

Fr. Paul
