A Note From The Pastor

Category: Parish News,

Catholic Schools’ Week begins next Sunday, January 26th; our students will be participating at Mass next Sunday at the 9AM Mass.

Please see next week’s bulletin for information regarding a Free Pre-Lenten Morning of Reflection for Women. Fr. John Kartje, Rector of Mundelein Seminary, is the Reflection Leader. The morning begins with Continental Breakfast at 8AM, and the program begins at 9AM. There will be a 12 Noon Mass with Lunch immediately following. This event is sponsored by the Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women (Vicariate I). If you have any questions, please contact Mary McKenna at: (312) 218-4251, or by E-mail at: mbmckenna1@gmail.com.

I would like to remind all of you of a great Catholic Resource provided to you by our Parish: the FORMED Program. Just logon to: https://formed.org, and enter our Parish Code QHVFMY. You will have Free Access to numerous video programs: Exploring the Catholic Faith, Bible Studies, Sacramental Preparation, Parish-Based Programs, Youth and Discipleship Programs, and even a number of programs in Spanish. There are many DVD movies to watch, many CDs to listen to (downloadable as MP3 Files), and a number of books to read via kindle and other devices. Again, all of these features are Free. This is a great resource that can help you grow in the knowledge and love of our beautiful Catholic Faith.

Next weekend at all of the Masses we will have our Annual Collection for the Church in Latin America – envelopes are available on the tables by the doors in Church.

A number of you asked me to print the Prayer of Commitment that we all prayed together during my homily last week, so here it is below:

Lord God, please forgive me for all the things I have done wrong.

I turn to You and turn away from sin. (Pause.)

(Silently ask forgiveness for anything you know is keeping you from God.) Jesus, please be the center of my life.

I welcome You personally as Lord and Savior of my life.

I ask You, Holy Spirit, to fill me and empower me to live as a child of God.

I want to have Your grace to truly live a new life.

Thank You for hearing my prayer through Christ our Lord. Amen May we all strive with the grace of God to live as His sons and daughters.

God Bless,

Fr. Paul
