Religious Education Policies

Program Policies

1. A baptismal certificate is required for each child preparing to receive the sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Eucharist, or Confirmation. Parents are asked to submit baptismal certificates with registration, unless the child was baptized or received First Eucharist at Our Lady of Humility or if the certificate was previously submitted.

2. The children are expected to be here when class is scheduled to begin. School supplies, e.g., pencils, crayons, folders, etc., are provided for the children. Please check their religion folders for parent notes and letters. You can help to reinforce the lesson by questioning your child and looking over papers and projects brought home. A monthly calendar and bulletin is sent home the last class of each month.

3. When your child is absent, please contact the office for an excused absence. Repeated absenteeism will be followed up with a phone call by the teacher. Make arrangements with the teacher to have the missed material covered.

4. Some teachers choose to send the child’s textbook home. It is very important that it gets back to class each week. The children write in the books and for that reason a book should not be shared.

Some teachers choose to keep the child’s textbook at school. If you as a parent wish to have it brought home, you may request it of the teacher. You are responsible that it gets back each week.

If a child fails to bring his/her textbook to class, the teacher will inform the parent to make them aware that it was missing. If a book is lost, another one needs to be purchased through the R.E. office. Most textbooks are $14.00 each.
